A Yarnie Offer!

After some brainstorming and some advice from the ever wonderful Lottie, I've come up with an offer that knitters and crocheters will love.

Or at least I hope so!

TomatoTea Loyalty Offer

I've decided to reward loyal customers who buy yarn (hand spun or hand dyed - no samplers i'm afraid!) from TomatoTea with a 10% discount on their next yarn, if they take a picture of the finished project they have made with their previous purchase and allow me to blog their efforts!

So not only do you have an incentive to finish your projects with TomatoTea yarn to get a discount off of your next yarn, you get some exposure too!

So how does this work? Well, if you have already bought some yarn from me, all you need to do is send me a nice, clear picture of your finished item that you have made with the yarn and allow me permission to blog about it. Then next time you buy some yarn, either on Coriandr or Etsy, just pop the name of the yarn you used for your project in the 'message to seller' box. I'll cross check this and you'll be refunded 10% off of your yarn purchase through PayPal after full payment is received. (or i'll adjust the amount owed if paying by cheque).

For example, Lottie purchased 'Violent Violet' from Coriandr and has kindly sent in some pictures of her project and allow me to blog about them in an earlier post.

Now when she goes to order another skein, all she has to do is enter 'Violent Violet' in the 'Message to Seller' box on either Coriandr or Etsy to get a 10% refund through PayPal. If she sends me another picture of what she makes with the new yarn, she can do this again, quoting the new yarn she bought.

Please note that this is a 'yarn for yarn' offer, by which I mean, if you have bought one yarn and followed the directions above, you'll get 10% off of another single yarn. If you have bought two and sent a picture of each yarn in its finished state, you get 10% off of your next two yarns, and so on. This offer applies to all yarn available in my shops, hand dyed or hand spun with the exception of samplers. Be sure to use the same user name each time you purchase, otherwise I may not be able to match up what you have bought!

As for yarn sent as a gift to someone else, if the buyer wishes to get a discount, just be sure to get a picture from the recipient and permission for me to blog about their finished project.
If the recipient of the gifted yarn wishes to get a discount, they must ask the person who bought it for them to contact me, quote the yarn bought and the recipients user name for either Etsy or Coriandr. The recipient still needs to send me a picture of the finished project and again give me permission to blog about it!
Please note, the buyer and the recipient can not both receive a discount. Priority goes to the buyer first, so be sure to ask them if its okay!

I hope I haven't made this too confusing! Any questions feel free to ask!

Poll: Which Picture Makes The Best Listing Image?

I'm in need of your assistance everyone!

I can't decide which picture to use as the main listing image when listing my yarns on Etsy and Coriandr. It's hard to decide which is more likely to draw a potential customer in to have a closer look. I tend to photograph all my yarns in 5 set ways but choosing one as the main image is difficult! Any comments are appreciated too :) Thanks for voting!

...and breathe....

Phew.

As much as I love having a proper job again, it sure does eat away lots of time! Its been way to long since I last posted an update for TomatoTea. So here's a run down of whats been happening.

First of all, we had an amazing week down in Cornwall at the beginning of September. The weather behaved and we had some wonderful days out.

A Week in Cornwall

Secondly, as mentioned I have been working my socks off in the bookshop. I've been put in charge of the Arts section - which includes crafts! I'm hoping to stock that section to breaking point in time for Christmas and get more people crafting!

And finally, i've still found pieces of time to make! I took some knitting to Cornwall and made a colourful array of neck warmers, ready for autumn and winter. I love this design as it can be worn by guys or gals and its toasty warm but not bulky like a scarf. It keeps the wind out of the opening in your winter jackets!

Chunky Neckwarmers

I've also been carding, spinning and dyeing so look out for some new additions to Coriandr and Etsy.
Yes, thats right, i've reopened my Etsy shop in time for Autumn and Winter. I'm still keen on Coriandr, in that it will always be my first 'port of call', however I promised myself last year that I would make a real go of the colder period in 2009 and I'm hoping Etsy will help me do that :)

Thats it from me for now, i'll post some pictures of crafty progress during the week! Have a great weekend!

Why, Hallo thar.

... yeah. Busy.

Its sort of crazy busy at work. Although, I expect this week to be the worst of it. Only 3 days. Well, and Friday :/ I hate working Boxing day. But I won't go on about that.

4 weeks on Wednesday until New Zealand. 8D I can't believe it!! I remember when it was 13 weeks and I was excited! I am really going to try and blog at least once a week while I'm there.

Anyhoo, here's a little look at what I have been up to lately. Although, this is only a small amount :o A fair few sales on Etsy/Dawanda too. Surprising seeing how people are being careful with their money and looking for bargains...

I can't find any fabrics I'd like to sell...

...So i'll make my own :)

Yup. I'm gonna screen print my own fabrics. Or at least for the moment i will be exploring this. I'll be buying a kit tomorrow from work (discount for experiments = DANGEROUS XD), I've ordered two, 2 meter lengths of fabric to print on and i have some designs floating around in my head :)

I think i'll print on some of my parcel roll too, as well as some left over wall paper we have... could make for nice wrapping paper :O

Wish me luck and stay tuned.

... and i wish my new button stock would arrive soon :( Need to list some new supplies to keep the interest going.

Woah! Those buttons are selling like hot cakes on Etsy! I won't have any left if it keeps going like this! I will need to find a new supplier if i run out :/ But i have different stock on the way. I have a feeling this was a good investment... or at least, I hope it was.

I also posted unwanted items on eBay too. I never dreamt of selling so much on there O_O; same with these buttons i suppose.

Perhaps supplying buttons will be my new calling...

Guess the next few months will tell me.

Bags of Fun

Busy at last :)

Rouge Bleu is already avaliable over on Etsy and Coccinelle Verte will be available for sale on Monday (2008/06/09)

I loved making these and already have a stash of yarn and fabrics to make more :)

PICT0022 Bag Yarn Stash

I'm also in the process of designing crocheted purses :D The yarn used would be regualr DK or aran weight and they would be lined as the bags have ^_^

I also invested in some buttons to sell on Etsy. I'm a little nervous about selling them as i worked out my profit margin would be small but they are lovely and i will be using a couple for my own projects too :)

Still looking for more work. Ugh. 12 hours just isn't enough... not that i would want to work full time in retail, but beggars can't be choosers :/

Happy April Fools

I hope no one has been caught out today ;)

It may be April Fools day but no more fooling around.

April will be a better month of blogging than March. That is a promise to myself.

I am now a part of the Ravelry community. Anyone wanting to sign up really should. I think it only took a week for me to get an account. They're not being an exclusive community, they're just taking their time to let things grow as Ravelry is still fairly new :) But wow. If you are a knitter or crocheter (or both ;) ) sign up now. It helps you keep track of your finished projects, WIP's, your stash, things you would like to make (no more bookmarking thousands of patterns and not getting back to them :) )

In other news, I am now co-admin to the most excellent Artisan Crafts Club on deviantArt. I'm the one who posts the new submissions. It may not sound a lot, but it sure means a lot to me. Its a nice little 'job' and I love it. I get to see all the new submissions first! Hehe. Its wonderful to see so many people create things, and it really spurs me one to keep up what I do. If you're part of dA and a knitter etc then you should join. Its a lovely community. Go take a lookie :)

There seems to be a fair amount of interest in the Furry Hoods. So, I decided to write up a pattern for them. Its available at:

Grapevine Socks

They are coming along nicely. As stupid as its sounds, as soon as this sock is done (yes, just the one), its being photographed and going straight in the washing machine. REALLY need to test this yarn. Oh, the pattern for the socks is over here.

And as far as I know thats all I have to update on. Now, to enjoy this spring sunshine ... :)

New Item Added Today and Happy Easter :)

First up:

Seafoam

Seafoam has been added to my Etsy shop today. Its slightly chunkier than what is already on offer, but is still classed as aran/worsted weight.

In other news, i'm slowly working on some projects. Hand dying has kind of taken over, but i cant help it. Its definitely a labour of love.
As you can see two projects have been scrapped in the sidebar.
The Crochet Me shrug was scrapped, as I figured i could knit or crochet my own design and not have to buy expensive yarn to make it ( heck, i could use my own hand dyed yarn if i wanted).

And the Sirdar cardigan has been 'secretly' scrapped. I love Click and cabling is fun but i dont think i picked the right shade for the cardigan...its too dark to show off the cabling and seems a waste. Thats my own fault and i now have 10 balls of Click to play with... luckily Click is such a standard DK weight that im sure i can find something.... I need to find something! Just a standard knit cardi would be good.

The Roxy wrap needs attention. And photographs. The sleeves are done, and half a front XD. I think i will make this top priority .... right after a couple of things...

I have half a Bigga shoulder bag done. I think i will get the other half done tonight. Bigga is fantastic. It knits up so incredibly quickly. I think i did the first half in a matter of 2 or 3 hours!

Lastly.
I have hand dyed some sock yarn for myself.

Grapevine Sockyarn

This is more of a test than anything else. I want to know how colourfast my dye method is and whether or not the 75% Pure New Wool, 25% Polyamide blend will survive a 30 degree gentle wash cycle in the old washing machine.... i will be absolutely GUTTED if they felt but it is something that must be found out.

Still here

Blast it. I haven't updated here in a while, I've been meaning to but never got round to it. I think its because i was so worked up about a job interview that i fudged.

A proper update will be posted tomorrow. This is kind of a 'I'm still alive' post ;)

But in other news, veronica1566 of Etsy has featured Grapevine in her Etsy Treasury. Be sure to check out her selection :D

Egg Beret and Scarflette Set

I love this set. Oh, i love everything, but i especially love the stitch of the scarflette. Not your conventional stocking stitch :) The scarflette has a cute crochet border created with a mohair, wool and nylon blend of yarn to finish it off. The beret and main body of the scarflette are hand knit from Rowan Spray, a 60% wool 40% acrylic blend of yarn.

This set will be available on Etsy:
